Each piece is expertly turned from solid boxwood, with the black pieces undergoing an ‘ebonising’ process to mimic the appearance of real ebony. The king’s knights and rooks are marked with the king’s crown, a feature often found on reproduction sets. Additionally, every chess piece is perfectly weighted for its size and is felted at the base. The 8.9cm king makes the set ideal for chessboards measuring 46 cm or larger.
